Seriously cannot wait to get this! Big fan of Donkey Kong and the last game I played of a stand alone DK was Jungle Beat on the GC. Still got it and thats up in the loft.
I hope Country: Returns brings back the Rhyno you can use in the original gameboy Country game. That would be epic. Sooner I get a job, the sooner I can get myself a Wii and play this game.

I think it was really staying true to what DKC was and still can be. It's the perfect update. It retains a lot of what the original games had, and it's definately a great job from Retro Studios here. They've definately got it in them to make something other than Metroid, fantastic effort! It really took me by surprise!
Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
WAAAAANT.
This is a potential Wii GotY for me, currently it's Other M and this is the only game I see capable of beating Other M for me, if it's made well. (Which I have great trust in Retro )
The original DKC is one of the earliest games I ever remember playing, so this game has potential to bring back some wonderful memories

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
I've hardly played any 2010 games this year, so this probably will be my Game of the Year if I buy it (which is VERY unlikely right now). Do want though.

With the new ONM having a massive feature on this I think it will be the Wii GOTY...Even though we've had Galaxy 2 and Other M already!
Hopefully NoE release it this year instead of doing another Kirby Epic Yarn bastard move!

This, pretty much. I love Donkey Kong Country, and I can't think of any other Wii games this year that have interested me.

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
Ooh, a week before my birthday (hint, hint ).
As much as I'm looking forward to "Kirby's Epic Yarn", I'll end up getting DKCR first. I loved the DKC games back in the ye olde SNES days, like NSMB this shall be a return to form (as will "Sonic Colours" by the looks of things - it seems that side-scrolling platform games are in their Silver Age ).

Donkey Kong Country is one of my favourite games ever, so this is a must-have for me. The thing that interests me about this is how much it sticks to the original formula.

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
The only thing different here are the villains, though the motives are the same (steal DK's banana hoard). No more Kremlings led by King K.Rool. Am I the only person here (or in the world) that in concerned that the Gnawtys and Zingers might not return too? OK, the Zingers are one of the most notoriously irritating enemies in video game history (nowhere near as annoying as the wasp-bots from the Sonic games), but I'd want them in DKCR for nostalgia's sake.
Speaking of which, is Cranky Kong gonna make an appearance?

Have just been watching some videos of this and it does look very impressive, alltho I'm getting a very strong Sonic vibe from it from some reason.

This gam is friggin' orgasm-inducing awesome, got it yesterday and worked my way to World 5, it's got a good challenge to it, the collectables will take someone an absolute age to find, and it's simply pure awesome. Once I'm done with it, I'll be writing a review

I'm still yet to get the flipping Wii. However this is on my radar to pick up first.
Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
I Got this yesterday (Bloody Royal Fail)
Only up to world 3 atm but I'm taking my time with this game and not rushing through like what I did with Galaxy 2/Other M.

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
Same as Scott, except I have a Wii. This is top of my list of Wii games I want, beating Goldeneye and Sonic Colors.

cool!
Definitely on my Christmas list! It does seem to have a sonic-like run and jump theology to it. Not sure if that's a good thing...

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
Well folks after the first weekend on sale DKCR only managed to reach number 12 in the UK charts!
Hopefully it will rise next week to a higher spot that it deserves!

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
Donkey Kong Country Returns has so far sold... 550,000 copies (Americas) in a week and a half. I would guess that it should expect to finish around a couple million.
Sales for the previous Donkey Kong Country games:
Donkey Kong Country - 4.43M (Americas), 9.30M (Worldwide)
Donkey Kong Country 2 - 2.13M (Americas), 5.15M (Worldwide)
Donkey Kong Country 3 - 1.19M (Americas), 3.51M (Worldwide)
I suppose Donkey Kong Country has steadily declined in popularity from the beginning. I guess Donkey Kong most likely... is over in terms of being top dog ever again.

I don't mind if DKCR doesn't sell that much. I mean, Donkey Kong's still one of Nintendo's biggest franchises.

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
In total amount sold, but in terms selling games post Donkey Kong 64 (in other words, now), Mario, Pokemon, and Zelda reign supreme and DK has been reduced to middle-tier.

GA, I would start comparing figures when DKCR has been out for a full year first. Its not been out for a week yet over here so them figures as a whole will change. Donkey Kong may of declined because over the years there has been far and between games of Donkey Kong. Jungle Beat and co were just tip of the iceberg to reduce sales for the actual fans of DK.
Moving along from DK.
I played this yesterday. I can see this being rather addicting once you get the hang of it. Its weird playing on a big screen. I'm use to be playing Donkey Kong Land on the Gameboy. I had some fun whilst I was playing it as well.

For a console exclusive, especially for a Wii game that isn't the typical 'casual' fair, that's pretty good going. You've got to bare in mind games like Black Ops are on multiple consoles. I know it's getting good reviews (from you guys and IGN, at least) and it definitely looks like a return to form for Donkey Kong (pun slightly intended). Still got my fingers crossed for getting it form Christmas/birthday .

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns
I'm just going off of trends. Usually games that actually sell really well this generation do good their first week. The first week reveals everything there is about a game.
I'm pretty sure you can expect no more than 3/4 million.
