New Pokemon series in development

The new pokemon series is scheduled to be released on the Nintendo DS this year in Japan. I do hope that this time they go back to the drawing board of the first generation Pokemon. The Pokemon in the 1st are brilliant than compared to the others. Gold n Silver generation is also good but onwards it started to dip.

Thats my own opinion, so what are your views about this?

Released in 2010? Something tells me this isn't the main Gen 5 game. Part of me says it is, part of me says it isn't.

I was on Mobile Joystiq on the bus back and saw something about a new Pokemon Game? But I wasn't really paying much attention.

2010 might be Japan.. right at the very end of 2010 at that...because then it would be a year after HG/SS and Pokemon games normally come around every year. However I do feel it's too early for 5th gen.

Also if you remember from previous games, next gen games appeared in the current gen games. Bonsley in Pokemon XD, a fourth gen pokemon in a third gen game, and if you go back as far as the first gen, we had 2nd gen pokemon popping up all over the place! Especially in the movie and anime.

I think we're due a movie and a game or two that include 5th gen pokemon before we actually get 5th gen itself. I personally don't think i'll be following it any further than 4th gen. Heart Gold/Soul Silver is the only thing that has brought me back to Pokemon. It'll be nice to see what they can come up with though. Keep us informed!

This is why I think we'll be getting a game similar to Colo/XD on the DS first before we get a 5th Gen main game.

I liked it when you could CATCH all the Pokemon without spending days and weeks scouring through thousands of new Pokemon.

I'll never forget the shiny pokemon introduced in 2nd gen ^_^ I hope we see 5th gen go back to what made pokemon great, nothing too fancy. Give us something new, but keep a lot of what made pokemon great and popular up to now.

I didn't even know people still cared about catching them all.

Well, it's obvious they were going to add new Pokemon. It's the easiest way of keeping the series going, as well as increasing difficulty. Each gen adds harder Pokemon to catch, such as Feebas.

I liked it back in the olden' days when people did catch em' all, and were proud of it. People play Pokemon nowadays, simply because, it's Pokemon. When it first got introduced, nobody heard of it, and it was the sheer pride that you 'caught em' all' which made the first game so great!

I don't know who you've been talking to then. Most of the appeal as far as where I come from has been more about the concept of simply owning these things and using them lol.

FEEBAS! Don't even get me started on that pokemon. I spent HOURS trying to find it!

Yeah, I can agree with that. But around here, you were 'cool' if you caught them all. Now, it's not cool to play Pokemon at all , IT DOESN'T STOP ME THOUGH

GA, we want to catch them all and befriend them! Obviously >_> I plan to catch them all in HG/SS and I believe if Celebi is available through mystery gift, that makes every single pokemon legally obtainable for the first time since Red/Blue/Yellow's Mew event!

I'm probably going to be flamed to death for this, but I wouldn't mind if this game was not actually a pure 5th Gen game but a spinoff similar to the Oore saga, except without the Shadow Pokemon stuff. Maybe a 3Dish game like what DQ did?

I won't flame you, I really enjoyed Colosseum/XD, not as much now but at the time, they were great!

Colosseum/XD were incredibly fun. XD is worth a fortune nowadays. Shame I was in desperate NEED of cash so sold it cheap to Harreh -_- . WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT?! I WANTED TO SEE BRUNO ;_;

I loved the games too, but they weren't majorly popular. I love XD to death.

Also, by 'COLO/XD LIKE', I mean an RPG which has different mechanics to the main series and isn't related, and is more story-driven.

XD had a brilliant story. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I agree. It vastly improved over Colosseum and had some good music and characters.

I never thought people played Pokemon because it's Pokemon, they play it because the games are a pretty fun RPG style game, with hours of play time

When I was in school, Pokemon was deemed as stupidly sad, No-one played the cards, watched the show or had the toys. But the games we're still played, not because it was Pokemon, but because they we're fun to trade and battle.
