RawkHawk, do you have any idea about what game we're talking about here? Sonic has had the worst selection of 3D games EVER, why? Because of the voice! Horrible American rat is what he is! He even managed to kill off the spirit of SSBB! DAMNIT YOU'VE ACTIVATED MY RAGE! AAARGH!
He would kill off Galaxy and my love for Nintendo the second it's officially announced! Re-think what you just said boi!
Soooo...you're ranting at me because I said the game could be good with Sonic, and you somehow thought that linked to voice actors? O_o By 'amazing', I mean 'Avatar Amazing' in the sense that it would make history, might not be the best thing ever, but would indeed make history. I personally don't think this is true anyway.
I rethought what I said, and my point still stands. I hate the voice acting in Sonic games, especially for Tails, but that's no reason to say the whole series is horrible. Would your point still stand if a 2D game was made with voice acting?

Can we at least wait until:
1) Things are confirmed
2) To see what Sonic actually *DOES* in the game?

I think people just like to debate and speculate beforehand. Some places say he'll be playable, others say he'll just appear in a minor role on a planet.

Re: Guess who's coming to dinner?
lol Smudge, took your time to say something
I don't see how it is anymore unbelieveable than it is believeable. It's not like it's the SNES and Megadrive were every 10 year old took sides and sent pics into mags of either character decapitating each other lol.
I for one would welcome it and am choosing not to take a negative view towards the possibility

Yeah, I've not been online much this weekend
I just got the Image of Sonic riding a Yoshi, it made me L.O.L.

Re: Guess who's coming to dinner?
I think it would be interesting for sonic to be in an Mario game, though i think it's somewhat unlikely since it's Super Mario Galaxy 2..........
But in all plausibility since mario goes to different planets why not sonic's? I mean there is good openness for this to become a slight crossover with certain games.
SMG2 sounds fairly interesting maybe i'll get myself my own personal wii so that way i don't have to share the game with my sister

Re: Guess who's coming to dinner?
I think this is about as plausible as man decending from a peanut. Mostly because I simply believe Nintendo wouldn't let SEGA near a main series Mario title even if it would cost the company it's existance.

Why are you so confident in saying that? It's not like they said it was impossible out of their own mouths.

I think, I believe, they're all opinions. If I'm not confident in stating my opinions then I won't get very far in life really.
Besides, even if I'm wrong it won't matter. I'm going to keep my stance until I'm proved otherwise.

Sure you are allowed to have an opinion but I don't know why you're so sure of something that really has no basis. There's being confident and then there's going beyond your own limits of what you actually know. You won't get far in life if you assume everything about your boss.

I'm still no more swayed that sticking Sonic in a Mario platformer conforms to any sense of logic. There's no use for him as a protagonist, antagonist or cameo character. His appearance would only cause contextual confusion; it simply makes no sense to have him appear in any role.

Re: Guess who's coming to dinner?
I seem to have hit a brick wall with a belief I have. How jazzy.
Where did I say I assumed all this as well? I'm just saying I find it very hard to believe. I'll come to accept it as well if it ends up being true. I may not like it, but if it's a determined fact I won't argue.
I generally don't like arguements, so I'm going to stop here before it get's out of hand. These are my final comments.

You're frustrated that I shared your opinion on it being unlikely?

You know, these two messages comparing to the last, at least to me, do not go well together.I think this is about as plausible as man decending from a peanut.
Also what's "contextual confusion"? Who doesn't know Sonic and Mario at this point, and how would it confuse anybody?

Not your views, as we have pretty much identical ones, but GA's statements about how I phrased mine.PlatinumSamusUK wrote:You're frustrated that I shared your opinion on it being unlikely?

Re: Guess who's coming to dinner?
It's more about some of the people's confidence in it being impossible, and the only reasons really suggested are "But but but it's Sonic and Sega!" Essentially, our own bias and past feelings. Yes, right now it doesn't make sense, but I don't deny that it at least can make sense.

In what context would an appearence from Sonic in a Mario Platformer make sense? There'd be no way to fit him in without creating a contrived storyline that really would not be fit for purpose. A Mario and sonic combined platformer with two very different styles for the two characters could work, but not now, and not in Galaxy 2.

Re: Guess who's coming to dinner?
Under the sense that Sonic is a major part of the game and combining both, I really doubt that will happen; however I can still see the case of some type of unlockable feature. Although Sonic in 3D is vastly different from Mario in 3D, a novelty of using Sonic's speed in a Mario game doesn't sound half bad. It's more like one of those "What if.."

Re: Guess who's coming to dinner?
Sonic is kinda like Luigi was in SMG 1?
Mario take a wrong turn and lands on Mobiius/Floating Island/Whatever
In an accident, Robotnik accidentally sends the entirety of Mobius into an alternate (Mario) Dimension, in an attempt to rule all, he Kindanaps Princess Peach, in order to help defeat him, Mario asks for help off Sonic
The story is more farfetch'd the further you read down the page, but impossible? not at all

Re: Guess who's coming to dinner?
I haven't seen anyone try to answer these questions. Reasons for implausibility? Look no further. These reasons don't go for every possible appearance of Sonic in a Mario game, just this one. And since it is just this rumored appearance in Super Mario Galaxy 2, I see no problem with that.NotNamedJohn wrote:

So does anybody want to answer those four questions, or shall we just keep ignoring them?
Re: Guess who's coming to dinner?
You could ask this for plenty of cameo games. There's no clear reason to want Snake in Smash, for example. Nobody literally asked for him. Yes, it's a spin-off, but it's the same concept. Why would Sonic be in the game? Why would SEGA or Nintendo want him in the game?
Don' think he'd fit in the story, but gameplay wise may take a lot of work, but it's not impossible. Sonic is based on speed but some Galaxy stages would be fun as Sonic now that I think about it.How would he fit into the story or gameplay?
This doesn't really dictate anything about it being impossible. How does news like this get leaked from Nintendo when they're so good at keeping secrets?
Well we're just fans. I don't even know what kind of question this is. We just don't know what's going on behind the curtains, but at the same time we don't know enough to say it's impossible or outside of their agendas. What does SEGA have to do with SMG2?

Re: Guess who's coming to dinner?
I think what GA is trying to get is the difference between Impossible and Extremely unlikely. Something I agree with
I mean, back in the era of Megadrive, you would NEVER have though that Sonic and Mario would be in the same game, but look, there already in 3 separate titles.
