Metroid: Other M

Not announcing a date for it when they've released the US date for it, as well as the US and UK dates for Galaxy makes me assume that they're behind on the PAL conversion.

Most of last night I was looking into a possible leak of the openng cinematic. It's going to happen, it's just the guy was banned from posting it on the forum he said he'd post it. There were a few screens though, which I released in our Metroid skype chat.

A source of a source also just told me the release date for Europe is July 16th

If that's the case, there won't be much need to import, cause that is a reasonable waiting period.

Either way, I do seem to be able to be excited yet restrained. I'm absolutely hyped for Other M in reality XD

I won't pretend to contain the excitement, I had a near reaction to the footage last night similar to how I saw the trailer last year. However I don't think anything will match the reaction to seeing the trailer, because I didn't know it was coming.

reaction I did when the trailer was debuted at E3 (for obvious reasons), and I
didn't leap out of my skin at the sight of the new footage, but it certainly
sent a hefty and prolonged shiver down my spine for the duration. It does look
very, very polished and well worked. It is just an FMV though, what I want to
see is a full blown video walkthrough of the demo itself, but I'm unsure when
that'd be released. It'll likely come as a straight out video which the gaming
media will be allowed to release at some point in the future. It won't be
showing up at E3 this year, I think that's the same week as the game itself is
released, so hopefully then they’ll be going through the motions of using it as
a promotion opportunity, so there should be lots of good new media for it then
for sure.





As with Corruption, after the US launch of Other M I shall
totally and utterly avoid all media relating to the game. No spoilers please
and thank you, I already get plenty of those with following the run up to
launch.

Jeeze. All of this over something that doesn't even show the gameplay; the part that actually matters.

Hey, if we're hyped over this, imagine what we'll be like when we play the game!

I trry not to overhype myself though, it usually leads to disappointment.

I heard Prime 2 had people left wanting more.

Last time I overhyped a game was Brawl. In fact that's probably the only one that really disappointed me relatively due to it being overhyped. Every other game lived up to its hype to me.

A few Metroid games have disappointed actually, Zero Mission was too easy, Metroid Prime 2 was a bit too difficult and people were put off by it, it's the weakest of the three primes. Pinball and Hunters weren't too well received either, people don't even like Hunters anymore, it's a shame.

I never liked Hunters, 'cause I'm a cynical purist toff.

Still played it though. It had Metroid on the box...

...That's why people still buy Sonic games.

Seems to be refering to an incident that Samus has had, involving Adam Malkovich, her commanding officer. A disagreement? A foolish mistake?

So far we've seen an awesome breathtaking trailer at E3, some incredible CGI footage and now something very story driven. We now need to see some gameplay footage and we've got a nice amount to make a judgement on the game with. However, so far I feel we've only seen small snippets of what this game has to offer.

One word (or 4 letters), PEGI.

This hints to me that the game may be sooner than we think for Europe. July is probably the best estimate I can give (and I heard July 16th earlier in the thread). Also, the ESRB version doesn't give a rating (even though we know it'll probably be a T), which is odd. PEGI have rated it but the ESRB (seemingly) haven't...

Excuse me, I was thinking along with Fergie's song London Bridge (yes I know it's a rip-off) when I was about to post about how http://metroid.jp/ has been updated and now has the trailer previously only on the American site. Also other stuff has been added so check it out, bitches!

I was under the illusion that there was already gameplay in the very first trailer, both third and first person.

I believe that was more tech demonstration gameplay. I doubt the first trailer had a person actually playing, instead the game following a set of commands.

We'll see proper gameplay footage soon enough though.

We only saw small snippets from the first trailer, we haven't seen any hands on actual gameplay yet. Although i'm pretty sure we will eventually.
